A4 Stainless Steel Pop Rivets 6.4mm (2 pack)
These corrosion-resistant 6.4mm A4 marine-grade stainless steel pop rivets (also known as blind rivets) can be used outdoors, in wet conditions and in marine environments. They are also resistant to acid and certain chemicals and are widely used in the food industry.
Typically used for larger, heavy-duty dinghy and keelboat mast, boom and tiller fittings or where 4.8mm rivets have pulled out and require a larger rivet to re-attach the part.
These rivets should be coated with a thin application of Duralac or Tefgel before fitting, to prevent the galvanic corrosion that can occur between dissimilar metals like aluminium and stainless steel, ensuring longevity. NOT suitable for use on carbon spars.
- Material (body): A4 stainless steel
- Material (mandrel): A4 stainless steel
- Head type: dome
- Available in in a reusable ziplock bag of 2 in these lengths. Dimensions refer to 'rivet diameter before use' x 'rivet body length before use (not including mandrel)'.
- 6.4 x 18mm
- 6.4 x 20mm
- 6.4 x 25mm
- Tool required: heavy duty rivet gun (manual, hydraulic or electric)*
- Recommended drill size: 6.5mm
*These are the largest diameter rivets we use in our workshop. Please note that they require a large, good quality and strong 'lazy tong' riveter as a regular hand riveter (where 2 levers are squeezed together) will not be powerful enough to pull the rivet to the breaking point of the mandrel. If you are local to Queen Mary Sailing Club we can do the job for you.
