K4 Fin Bolt & Plate - US Box
All K4 US box fins are supplied with one of these. A spare one should be in your essentials pack that you keep with you on each trip to your local spot or when travelling.

- Plate: brass insert moulded into tough nylon (half the weight of a brass-only plate resulting in 20g saving in a quad board)
- Using a set of K4 quad fins with this bolt set results in a saving of 0.2kg compared to standard G10 fins with brass-only plates

What happens when you run aground?
We once ran into shallows at speed on a K4 US Box fin with one of these bolt & plates and what happened surprised us. US box fins usually shear off on the front lug (sacrificing the fin) to prevent ripping the fin box out of the board. What happened is that the brass insert ripped out of the nylon plate. And that was the only damage! The board and fin were completely unharmed and we only had to replace the bolt and plate. Total cost of damage…less than £2!
