Formuline is renowned by windsurfers and is specifically designed for use on windsurf downhauls, outhauls and boom clamps. At 3.8mm it is the perfect diameter to fit mast extension and boom systems. Also available as Formula-X for ratcheted downhaul systems.
It can be used in any boating application where a high load needs to be taken on a thin rope.
We have been using this rope for years as it is incredibly strong and reliable. It is simply a brilliant product and we would not want to use anything else.
We tightly tape and hot knife our Dyneema® ropes to ensure a clean cut with no fluffing at the ends. This enables easy routing of the rope. We remove the 3M Blue masking tape after cutting.

Check them before every session. A failure out at sea could be anything between inconvenient and disastrous
- Replace them as soon as wear is detected
- Carry a spare of each size on every trip to your local spot (and especially when travelling overseas where replacements may be hard to find)
- Ideally change them annually and keep the old ones to use around the home, garden or garage in non-critical applications
