Severne mast carbon content
Unlike almost all other windsurfing mast brands, Severne masts are not measured in terms of carbon percentage as there are many different types of carbon out there that differ in price and weight.
Since weight is a far better and more significant indicator of the performance of a mast, this is used by Severne as the reference point. Having said this, some people might loosely compare Severne masts to others as follows: Gorilla 75%, Blue 90%, Red 100%.
Severne mast curve
Severne masts are designed with a specific Severne bend curve that remains one of the pillars of their rigs. They describe it as the Severne Curve. Constant, hard-top or flex-top curves that other mast brands describe are based on mast-bend measurements at 3 points. Severne measure their masts at a minimum of 7 points.
Features
- Perfect compatibility of top and bottom section - built as one part on a ferrule and then cut in the middle
- Oversized EVA ferrule plug to clean the inside of the top section when joining the mast
- Comes in a Severne padded mast bag
-
SLIPLOK - alternating texture patterns in the boom area
- to increase friction for less slippage
- eliminating the need to over-tighten the boom
- decreasing stresses on the mast
Top tips with masts
- Ideally, always pair the mast from the same brand as your sail, to ensure that you get the perfect bend curve. All of the recommended masts are listed on all Severne sail product pages here https://www.severnesails.com
- Consider weight vs. price. A lighter mast will ease the sail handling yet increase its price
- Wash after usage, especially in salt-water locations and sandy beaches
- Overtightening the boom clamp causes mast damage.
