Starboard Foils UCS Aluminium V8 Wingfoil Mast.
The starting point for your new UCS wingfoil setup! You need to choose a mast, fuselage, front wing and tail wing. Add a foil bag and spare hardware to complete your wingfoil.
Choose the Aluminium V8 mast if you want:
- One of the stiffest and most rigid alloy masts on the market
- An affordable performance mast that gives the possibility of a future upgrade to carbon, while keeping all other components the same
- A strong mast that is suitable for all types of foiling, including jumping
- Weight: 2.2-2.7kg
Choosing Right Mast Size
72cm - short
- + Feels more direct and stable, flies lower which can be less scary, easier to control, easier to take off
- - Wing tips can accidentally breach the water surface more easily
-
Ideal for:
- Beginner and progressing foilers
- Downwind foilers who like to keep the wings flying close to the water surface
- Pumpfoiling
82cm - medium
- + A great all-round and versatile size. Masts in this size group still feel direct and stable while the higher flight compared to the 72-75cm size masts gives more flying room
- - Some riders prefer shorter masts and others will find it not long enough!
-
Ideal for:
- All-round foilers
- Freeride foilers
- Freestyle foilers
92cm - long
- + A longer mast gives you more leverage, increasing the foil's speed. The wings can fly deeper underwater, minimizing wing-tip breach when carving hard or heeling to windward
- - Added weight, more technical to ride and control, flying higher can be scary for beginners!
-
Ideal for:
- Advanced foilers
- Racers
- Those wanting a medium length mast when using one of our Starboard inflatable boards where the mast goes through the board to bolt onto the standing plate and 8-10cm of length is lost
Important note: Starboard's Top Plate masts set the fuselage angle parallel to the board.
