There is no need whatsoever for this device to be pointed into the wind. Some hand-held anemometers have to be perfectly aligned with the wind to enable the air to pass cleanly through a short 'tunnel' over small turbine blades. This can lead to a frustrating user experience and incorrect readings during wind shifts and when the device is slightly rotated 'off-centre', causing turbulence around the blades
- This device has anemometer cups (instead of inefficient mini turbine blades) which are protected inside the slim bars of a cage. Other designs typically leave the cups exposed and vulnerable to damage, especially when putting the device down after or during use.
