Nautos Auto-Bailer ILCA/Laser - Fully ILCA Class-Legal
This original Nautos ILCA auto-bailer (self-bailer) fits perfectly into any lLCA or Laser of any age or build.
This is a complete unit supplied with a screw*, replacement plastic plug fitting for the screw to go into (should you need it) and rubber bung (for the internal cockpit). A sticky pad is also supplied in case marine sealant is unavailable when fitting.
The unit is factory-fitted with the latest internal springs which give a very satisfying ‘snap’ when opening and closing and make the bailer a pleasure to use. The old-style rubber bands that used to distort and break (causing the bailer to get stuck in the open position) have been eliminated! Basically the springs make the unit work perfectly all the time.
*spec of screw: Size 10 x 1 1/4” PH2 CSK in A4 marine-grade stainless steel.
Fitting tips
- Add a little Sikaflex (or similar marine sealant) to the hole in the hull to keep the hull watertight. Or use the sticky pad by sticking it over the plugged hole and letting the screw pierce it
- Use a Philips Size 2 (PH2) screwdriver to fit or remove the unit
- Do not over-tighten the screw as this can cause the unit to bend slightly
- Moisten the pin to make attaching/adjusting the rubber bung easier
- If sailing from an area of sand or stones, check bailer after every sail and remove and debris
- Rinse after use in fresh water
